the gloomy pharmacists

Matthew Lawrence and Ethan Robinson are both Tauruses who grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. Ethan played the piano for a long time; Matthew listened to American Top 40 a lot. They met in high school, because they were both in an after-school activity far too geeky to be mentioned here. Their first band, the Chapbooks, went nowhere, but lasted quite awhile. Shortly after the breakup (which was caused by a fight over Jason Behr, Max from the now-canceled WB teen drama Roswell), they got over their differences and started The Gloomy Pharmacists. Named after an emplyee at the CVS near Matthew's house, the Gloomy Pharmacists have been making their own brand of somewhat hard to categorize but vaguely campy outsider music for a few years now, occasionally putting out singles for their small (but in-the-know) fan base. Additionally, they also do solo work, Matthew going by the Glueguns and Ethan using the name Glove Compartment. Sometimes Matthew remixes things as well, under the name The Glossy 8X10s. That's so, in the event that their CDs ever get to record stores, you won't have to walk that far to buy them all.
