Karin Dreijer Andersson
Birthdate: unknown
Location: Sweden
Occupation: singer
Karin Dreijer Andersson is the singer in Swedish synth-pop duo The Knife, who just released their third album, entitled Silent Shout. Her voice doesn't exactly sound human, and her lyrics are equally weird. The Knife are weird because they claim that rock is dead and then make songs in MIDI, and they refused to play live because live music was dead, but now they're playing sold-out shows across Europe. Oh well. If you've never heard The Knife before, you still might know her from the song she sang on the last Royskopp album or from Jose Gonzales' cover of the Knife's Heartbeats.
Karin made the list because she sings in that way Beth Gibbons used to in Portishead where she sounds really crazy and emotional even though the lyrics aren't particularly meaningful.
